454 Casull Auto 1_04a
WHAT IT DOES
It adds two guns:
- a unique oversized pistol, based very loosely on Alucard's .454 Casull gun. It is not an exact copy, though, because that's not even possible: the gun is drawn differently every time. Just in the first episode alone, it has three different shapes for the slide, for example. So I've done my own take on it, also constrained by the game's animations and how it sits in the hand and such.
It has a 10 inch barrel (in the anime it says 10 inch on the side of the gun in the small print), and weighs 12 pounds, including the ammo. The barrel is pretty accurately 13mm caliber, to match the number stated by Alucard himself. (Real .454 ammo is only 11.5mm.) It ejects custom brass that's 35.1mm long (same as a .454 Casull round), wide enough for a 13mm bullet, and rimless like the ejected casings in the anime.
It is fully animated, using the standard game animations. I also at least tried to make it look a little old. The slide and frame are heavily scratched and in places a little stained, especially darkened around the places you'd put your hands on it. Like for example the rear part of the slide, which you paw every time you reload. It also has some faint traces of incipient rusting, especially around where Alucard puts his mouth on it.
For now it's chambered in .44 Magnum, since I figured that's as close as ammo in the game gets and its availability is somewhat limited. I might actually add 13mm ammo later.
The gun is accurate, has high range, has high damage per shot, does double damage to limbs and has twice the chance to crit. On a crit, it knocks down. To keep at least SOME pretense of balance, it cycles about half as slow as a 10mm and only has 7 rounds per magazine. So the DPS is limited to something not too unbalanced, and misses are more of a problem. Plus, the weight is somewhat its own balancing factor, I figure.
Also, this is not a silent gun. It's very loud, and it has a big muzzle flash. Don't be surprised if every mutant around suddenly notices you.
It's repaired with 10mm pistols, or rather, with anything you could repair a 10mm pistol with.
- A shorter version in 10mm, called the "Baby Joshua", with only an 8 inch barrel and 10 round magazine. It's not just a scaling down though, it really is a different mesh. It does less damage, but cycles faster, weighs less, is only "normal" loudness instead of "loud", is cheaper to repair, and uses cheaper ammo.
This one really has nothing to do with Hellsing, other than being a "miniature" version of the real thing, for people who wanted a smaller version, or more rounds per magazine, or such.
OPTIONAL TEXTURE
If you're bothered by the writing on the gun, an alternate texture without the writing is included. Just go into your game's Data/Textures/Weapons/AlucardCasull, and delete the file "CasullSlideWithPort.dds". Rename the file "CasullSlideWithPortNoWriting.dds" to "CasullSlideWithPort.dds". Do the same for "CasullSlideWithPort_n.dds" and "CasullSlideWithPortNoWriting_n.dds". It's that simple. (And if you somehow mess up, just unpack the mod again to undo any changes you made, so no need to worry much.)
NOTE FOR THE PURISTS
Although it IS the weapon of an anime character, its shape is based on the American M1911, and oversized guns are routinely used in Hollywood movies too. E.g., Charles Bronson in Death Wish uses something just about as oversized. ( See, http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/death-wish-image.jpg ) Or who can forget Dirty Harry's Smith & Wesson Model 29, which in the meantime is available in 10-1/2 inch barrel, actually longer than the barrel on this one.
Or speaking of real weapons, Taurus even offers a 12 inch barrel version of their .44 Magnum. Or in .454 Casull the very real Taurus Raging Bull also offers a 10 inch barrel option, quite comparable to this one. Or then there's the Draco "pistol" which is basically an AK-47 with a 11-1/2 inch barrel, so it technically qualifies as a pistol, shooting the same 7.62x39mm round as an AK-47.
Or in semi-auto, the Desert Eagle has a 10 inch barrel version.
Etc.
Basically it's a very western weapon, and weapons this size do exist and are featured in movies all the time.
But, whoever is bothered by it, isn't forced to download it :p
HOW TO GET IT
The .454 Auto gun and a little ammo for it (about 10 magazines worth, more if you have the Scrounger perk) are on the ground floor of the Germantown police HQ, near the locked door to the armory. You don't have to actually open the door, though. The crate is on the table next to the terminal that opens the door.
The crate is locked, or someone would have looted its contents by now, but it's a very easy lock. It needs zero skill to lockpick. Still, bring a hair pin or two.
You may also want to check with Moira in Megaton and Karl in Meresti for a little extra .44 Ammo, but the keywords are: a little.
Moira and Karl also sell the 10mm "Baby Joshua" gun and some extra 10mm ammo, so you can get that one very early.
HOW TO INSTALL IT
Search for "set bInvalidateOlderFiles=0" in your Fallout3.ini file and change it to "set bInvalidateOlderFiles=1", if you haven't done so already.
Extract the archive, with directories, in your game's "Data" folder. Select it in the list of plugin files in the launcher.
If you have any texture problems, try invalidating the archive, for example with FOMM.
HOW TO UNINSTALL IT
Delete the .esp file from your Data directory.
Delete the AlucardCasull directory in both the Meshes/Weapons and Textures/Weapons directories.
CONFLICTS
The mod itself shouldn't conflict with anything.
LICENSE
For my work, I release it in the public domain. You can do anything you wish with it. I would, of course, appreciate it if you give credit, but if not, so be it, I can live with that too.
Note though that the clip, trigger, hammer, muzzle flash, and animations are Bethesda's, so it's not ok to port those to other games than Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. If you want to port this to another game, you'll have to get a clip, trigger and hammer from some weapon in that game.
