Shadowheart's Tattoos
I’ve always liked the tattoos Shadowheart had in her original concept art (linked below), so I did my best to recreate and add them to her in-game. This was probably one of the hardest mods I’ve ever tackled (due to coding issues + having to redraw the whole thing two times) and I’m proud that it’s even out at all.
**HOW TO INSTALL (AND UNINSTALL)**You need Mod Fixer for this mod to work.
I highly recommend installing this with the BG3 Mod Manager. You can technically use Vortex, too, but there might be some issues; so, if in doubt, use BG3MM. I can't provide any help or support with installing this mod through Vortex or manually, since I don't use these methods myself.
To install: Download the .zip file, extract it, drop the .pak file onto the BG3MM, move it to the Active Mods column, and you're done!
To uninstall: Simply move the mod to the Inactive Mods column or delete it.
NEW! Added a lighter version for those of you who asked, you can see how it looks like in the gallery. Only download and install one version at a time.
COMPATIBILITY
This mod will probably NOT be compatible with any .pak mods that edit Shadowheart's appearance. Loose file mods, like Slightly Older Shadowheart, Shadowheart Hair Tweak or Younger Shadowheart, should be fine.
Using this mod alongside Companions - Old Shaders, or any mods that require it (like No Abs for Companions and PC) might yield some problems like giving Shadowheart different tattoos. Check the pinned post at the top of the comment section for possible solutions and workarounds.
Since this mod directly replaces the in-game body tattoo atlas, any mods that also edit/alter replace it won't be compatible with this one. So far, Malenia The Blade of Miquella and HD Githyanki don't seem to work, so if you have either of them + this mod installed it's very likely that they will NOT be compatible with each other. Unique Tav and its body tattoos should be fine, since the game reads them as different files, but I haven't tested it myself.
KNOWN ISSUES
- Depending on the animation/movement of the arm, the tattoo might look deformed or wonky. Not much of an issue, since that also happens in real life with actual tattoos, but I'm putting it in case anyone notices it.
- I haven't gotten around to testing it, but I suppose that this mod still works after a certain event in Act 3 (iykyk); however, I can't guarantee it.
SPECIAL THANKS
These three people were the absolute MVPs and the main reason why this mod exists at all:
- labotor for troubleshooting the coding issues and literally saving my life.
- commanderstrawberry for helping me upscaling the tattoos and reducing a lot of ugly crunchiness.
- And finally, Kota Stoker for allowing me to trace and reference their interpretation of SH's ink (and saving me a lot of hours drawing).
